This may take a moment, but please let me share how I feel about home-visit dental care.
A message from our founder (Honorary Director)
A society where everyone can receive dental care on equal terms
This may take a moment, but please let me share how I feel about home-visit dental care.
I have an older sister who lives with a disability. Back then, barrier-free environments were not yet common, and I watched with my own eyes how hard it was for her even to get to a dental clinic. The strong conviction that took root in me then — “I want to become a dentist who can help patients who are suffering from tooth pain but cannot get to a clinic” — is where it all began for me.
That was more than 30 years ago, shortly before I opened my own practice. At the time, the very term “home-visit dental care” was barely recognized by society, and there was no clear system for it, so I started visiting patients’ homes on my own. Other dentists around me had plenty of cold words for it, like “there’s no need to do something so inefficient” or “who’s going to take responsibility if something goes wrong out there?”
Even so, I never stopped believing that there were patients waiting for me, and that home-visit dental care would one day be recognized by society as a natural part of medical care. I threw myself into study and practice, and became the first dentist in the prefecture to earn certification from the Japanese Society for Disability and Oral Health. Those days were carried by passion alone.
Our home-visit care has never been a “side job” squeezed into lunch breaks or other free moments. Within our regular clinic hours, we have built a dedicated team focused solely on home-visit dental care, visiting patients’ homes and care facilities. That is precisely why we can say with confidence that we deliver high-quality treatment and continuous oral care to the people who truly need it.
Thirty years have passed since I started out on my own. Today, our clinic has grown into one trusted by people throughout the community, and by many patients with disabilities and their families. This journey, and the bonds it has built, are the pride of my life.

4 reasons patients choose our home-visit dental care
1. Personalized oral care from a dedicated team
A dentist and a dedicated dental hygienist visit regularly to provide professional oral care. We assess each patient’s overall health and swallowing ability (feeding and swallowing function) from multiple angles, and provide the safest, most effective care plan for each person.
2. Modern portable equipment for in-clinic-level treatment
It isn’t true that “only simple treatment is possible because it’s a home visit.” We are equipped with a portable modern dental unit, LED lighting, a portable X-ray machine and more. From cleaning care such as scaling, to treatment for tooth decay and periodontal disease, denture fabrication and adjustment, and even surgical procedures such as extractions, you can receive treatment in your home or facility that is every bit as advanced as what you would receive in our clinic.
3. “Swallowing Endoscopy (VE)” to support the joy of eating
One of the most important challenges in home-visit care for elderly patients is dysphagia — difficulty swallowing food properly. Our clinic performs “swallowing endoscopy (VE)”, passing an extremely thin (about 3mm) endoscope through the nose to directly observe the movement of the throat.
The examination takes about 20 to 30 minutes and places no burden on the patient. Based on the results, the dentist gives specific advice on a safe eating posture, food consistency such as thickening, and portion size per mouthful, to help prevent aspiration pneumonia.
4. Over 30 years of experience and a dedicated care system
In recent years, more dental clinics have begun offering home visits, but we have stayed true to the belief we held from the very start — wanting to help patients who are struggling because they cannot get to a clinic — and have remained at the forefront of home-visit dental care for more than 30 years. We are well aware of the challenges unique to home-visit care, which are quite different from those of in-clinic treatment, and we keep our knowledge current through regular academic conferences and study sessions, sharing it across every doctor and staff member and putting it into practice every day.

FAQ about home-visit dental care
Q1. Who can use home-visit dental care?
Anyone who is elderly, has difficulty getting to a clinic alone, has limited mobility, is bedridden, or lives in a care facility is eligible. We will also do our best to arrange a home visit for urgent situations such as sudden tooth pain, so please contact us first.
Q2. How far does your service area extend?
By law, the area within a 16km radius of our clinic in Handa City is our home-visit service area. Naturally this covers all of Handa City, and we also visit neighboring Tokoname City, Agui Town, Higashiura Town, Taketoyo Town and other areas every day.
Q3. There’s no parking at my home for the home-visit vehicle…
There’s no need to worry. Our home-visit vehicles apply for a parking permit from the police in advance, so we can park in a safe space in front of your home.
Q4. What days and times can you visit?
[Available days] Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (Saturday visits can be discussed separately)
[Visit hours] Morning 9:00-13:00 / Afternoon 14:00-19:00
We will coordinate with the schedule of the patient and their family, as well as any day-care service arrangements.
Q5. Can I really receive the same treatment at home as at a dental clinic?
Yes, you can. We bring portable treatment equipment (a portable dental unit and X-ray machine), so we can provide treatment of almost the same quality as in the clinic, including drilling out decay and making dentures. We also take away any rinse water and dispose of it hygienically. In addition, we provide rehabilitation guidance for reduced swallowing function (oral frailty).
Q6. How many staff come on a home visit?
When carrying out treatment, to keep the procedure safe and smooth, we always send a team of two — a dentist and a dental assistant (or hygienist). If only oral cleaning or similar care is being provided, a single dentist or dental hygienist may visit alone.
Q7. How do I request home-visit dental care?
Requesting a visit is very simple. The patient themselves, a family member, or the patient’s care manager can call our clinic directly.
[Phone number: 0569-24-6480]
We will ask a few brief questions about the current symptoms and your preferred date and time, then arrange the visit date.
Q8. Can I use health insurance and long-term care insurance?
Yes. Home-visit dental care is provided entirely within the framework of “health insurance (National Health Insurance, employee health insurance, the Late-Stage Elderly Healthcare System, etc.)” and “long-term care insurance”. Patients receiving public assistance can also use this service. On your first visit, we will check your insurance card, any relevant medical certificates, and your long-term care insurance card.
Q9. About how much does a single treatment cost?
[Health insurance] The cost is calculated based on your co-payment rate (10-30%) shown on your insurance card. For a patient with a 10% co-payment, each visit costs roughly 1,000 to 1,500 yen.
[Long-term care insurance] Patients certified as needing support or long-term care will also be charged the long-term care insurance “home care management guidance fee” in addition to the health insurance cost above. This is a flat fee: at a 10% co-payment, guidance from a dentist costs about 500 yen per visit, and guidance from a dental hygienist costs about 350 yen per visit.
