The positive image “beautiful teeth” create
What impression do people form of someone with straight, brilliantly white teeth?
Survey results show that people don’t just find them “attractive” — even their inner charm tends to be rated more highly. If you want a beautiful mouth in Handa, we welcome you to consult our cosmetic dentistry department.

“3 standards of beauty” for a refined mouth
“White teeth” with no dullness
As the old expression “bright eyes, sparkling teeth” describes, clear eyes and white teeth have long been symbols of beauty. Psychologically too, people with white teeth directly leave a positive impression of being “clean,” “youthful,” and “intelligent.” With our whitening and ceramic treatments, you too can have the white teeth everyone admires.
The “E-line” that makes your profile more beautiful
The straight line connecting the tip of the nose to the tip of the chin is called the “esthetic line (E-line).” An ideally beautiful profile has the lips sitting just slightly inside this line. Forming this beautiful E-line requires correctly aligned teeth and a balanced bite.
The “smile line” behind a charming smile
When you smile, the state where the edges of your upper front teeth line up neatly along the curve of your lower lip (a U-shape) is called the “smile line.” The neater this curve, the more likeable and charming your smile looks. Be sure to check your own smile line in the mirror sometime.

[Dialogue] A dentist on why “the beauty of teeth” matters
ハミール staff
People often say “first impressions are decided by teeth” — what does that actually look like from a dentist’s point of view?
Kosei Akasaki – Chairman, Hamille Medical Corporation
This isn’t an exaggeration — I believe that teeth are everything in a person’s life.

What data lets you state so confidently that “teeth are everything”?
Kosei Akasaki – Chairman, Hamille Medical Corporation
For example, the Japanese Association of Orthodontists once ran an awareness survey of people from their teens through their fifties.
Asked “does the alignment of your teeth affect first impressions?”, a combined 72.6% answered “yes” or “somewhat yes.” This shows that many people judge others by their mouth without even realizing it.

Over 70% of people care about this? That’s surprising.
Kosei Akasaki – Chairman, Hamille Medical Corporation
There’s also another survey where 70% of people said “the face” matters most in forming a first impression, and of those, over 40% said they feel favorably toward “well-aligned teeth,” and over 20% toward “white teeth.”
In other words, both the beauty of your tooth alignment and how white your teeth are, are essential to bringing out a person’s charm.

I see. Making your teeth beautiful really is a high-return investment in your own appeal!
Kosei Akasaki – Chairman, Hamille Medical Corporation
Exactly. In developed countries across Europe and North America, keeping your teeth looking good is seen as “proof you can manage yourself,” and it’s taken for granted as basic manners in business and relationships. I’d love for Japanese people to take on more of that global perspective too, raising their awareness of a beautiful mouth, and live a more confident, fulfilling life.
The hidden health risks lurking in “silver fillings”
Developed countries don’t use “silver fillings”?
In Europe and North America, white, healthy teeth are a symbol of social standing. Simply having unclean-looking teeth can mark someone as “unable to manage themselves,” to the point of hurting job prospects and business dealings. Because of this, the practice of placing metal (silver fillings) through treatment barely exists as a culture there.
What’s more, in Europe and North America, visiting the dentist for “prevention and cleaning” is said to be a deeply ingrained habit, whereas in Japan, most people only go “once it hurts.” So no one says “what a shame — such an attractive person, but full of silver fillings when they open their mouth” — we need to shift our own thinking too.
The “palladium alloy” problem unique to Japan
The “silver filling” used in Japan’s insured dentistry is an alloy mixed from gold, silver, palladium, and other metals. It’s the material used under a “rule unique to Japan,” created after the war to restore minimum chewing function cheaply — not a globally standard material.
If you keep choosing silver fillings simply because “insurance covers it,” you risk not only a mouth that looks dark inside, but also three major risks to your overall health.
3 reasons we don’t recommend silver fillings
1. It can trigger a body-wide metal allergy
The inside of your mouth is constantly wet with saliva, and on top of that, scalding food, ice-cold drinks, and powerful biting force make it a harsh environment for metal. Because of this, a silver filling slowly corrodes and dissolves, and can accumulate in your body as metal ions.
Once these metal ions bind with proteins in your body, they can suddenly trigger “metal allergy” symptoms such as eczema on your hands and feet or rough skin, one day out of nowhere. “Palladium” in particular, found in silver fillings, is well known as a substance that easily causes allergic reactions.
2. Cavities easily “come back” underneath silver fillings
A silver filling is fixed to the tooth with a special cement (adhesive). But metal repeatedly expands and contracts with heat and cold, gradually degrading the cement and creating tiny gaps between the tooth and the filling.
Cavity-causing bacteria invade through these gaps, letting decay progress unnoticed underneath the silver filling — the very common “secondary caries.” Because X-rays can’t pass through silver fillings, this is often discovered too late, and unfortunate cases where the inside turns out to be completely hollowed out by the time the filling comes loose are far from rare.
Buildup sticks to it, worsening periodontal disease
A silver filling’s surface easily picks up fine scratches, and plaque clings firmly to them. The border between a silver filling and the gum is especially prone to becoming a breeding ground for bacteria, which is a major reason periodontal disease accelerates.
If your gums started swelling or your breath got worse after getting a silver filling, bacteria clinging to the metal are a likely cause. To keep your gums healthy, a smooth ceramic material that resists buildup has an overwhelming advantage.
Done in as little as 1 day! “Same-Day Ceramic (CEREC)”
Our clinic has introduced the 3D computer system “CEREC.” Depending on your mouth’s condition and case, we can sometimes complete a ceramic filling or crown in fewer visits.
Patients who choose us
- Patients who don’t have time
for multiple visits - Patients who want to replace
silver fillings with a natural white shade - Patients who want to
keep visits to a minimum - Patients who want their front teeth’s
shape and alignment made more attractive
7 advantages of CEREC treatment
- No dental lab needed: treatment can be completed in as little as 1 hour
- Fitted with care to the tooth, helping lower the risk of a cavity coming back (secondary caries)
- Uses no metal, so patients worried about metal allergies or darkened gums can consult more easily
- Matched to the surrounding teeth, reproducing a natural, translucent color and shape
- No need to endure uncomfortable clay impressions. A comfortable 3D scanner is used instead
- Even teeth that resist whitening can more easily be given a natural shade
- Helps shorten the time spent wearing a temporary tooth, easing the burden during treatment too
“Primescan,” supporting digital dentistry
Our clinic has introduced the intraoral scanner “Primescan.” Designed with patients who find traditional clay-like impression material uncomfortable in mind, it captures tooth-shape data by scanning inside the mouth with a camera.
The 3D data we capture is used to design ceramic restorations and to explain your treatment. Because we can check your mouth’s condition on screen as treatment progresses, it’s also easier for patients to understand what’s happening. While keeping patient burden in mind, we aim for more precise, easier-to-understand care.
Primescan’s outstanding technology
Astonishing “precision”
A proprietary high-resolution sensor accurately reads even the tiniest contours of your teeth, instantly building a sharp 3D model nearly identical to your real teeth.
No waste, “seamless” from start to finish
The data is sent immediately to the milling machine on-site, making possible a “same-day treatment” (a finished ceramic tooth on the same day).
Comfortable to use
A built-in heater at the tip of the camera keeps the lens from fogging up inside your mouth. Even hard-to-see areas like your molars can be scanned smoothly.
Smooth, fast
A system that processes 3D data at high speed also helps shorten how long you need to keep your mouth open.
Stress-free flexibility
Through a large touchscreen, you can immediately see the scan of your own mouth right there, and we can use it to explain your treatment plan in easy-to-follow terms.
Versatile: useful across many kinds of treatment
It’s not limited to ceramic treatment — it’s essential digital equipment across many advanced dental treatments, from precise implant simulation to impressions for clear-aligner orthodontics.
